In 2014, Poland, together with the rest of Central and Eastern Europe, celebrated anniversaries of events which had marked milestones in the country’s transition from a former Soviet satellite into a liberal market democracy. These included the 25th an- niversary of the partly free Polish parliamentary elections and the formation of the first non-communist government since the end of World War II, which triggered subsequent events of 1989 in the region, the 15th anniversary of NATO enlargement in 1999, and the 10th anniversary of the EU membership. The main focus of the media was on the politi- cal events and their economic consequences, but the changes which these events pre- cipitated have affected all areas of both public life and individual lives of the Poles, and may be analyzed from different perspectives. The article explores the developments in Poland over the past quarter of a century from the point of view of foreign language teaching, with a particular stress on a relatively new phenomenon, being an increased demand and new opportunities for teaching Polish as a foreign language.

Page No: 1-7

Abstract The paper presents a comparative look at the results of similar studies relating to the diag- nosis of cooperation between the journalists and representatives of the PR industry in Poland. Comparable subjects, arising from the similarity of used research tools, as well as comparable attempts of the research on both environments provide good opportunities of drawing overlapping conclusions from the two research projects. Although standardization of the cooperation between journalists and PR professionals is very difficult and its description is limited by a number of vari- ables and differentiating factors, comparing both studies makes it possible to draw conclusions about some changes or elements that have remained unchanged in relations PR managers – jour- nalists in Poland over the last 11 years.
